My wife and I visited these two amazing communities during the last week of September. The reason for our weekend away from Scottsdale was to visit many of the local art galleries, since my wife is a watercolor artist looking for gallery representation. But, we also appreciated the much cooler weather we encountered and the many photo opportunities I found.
While in Taos, we stayed at a great bed and breakfast called Casa Benavides. It’s located right in the center of town on Kit Carson Road and within easy walking distance to many galleries and shops. After a great overnight stay and tasty breakfast, we took the “High Road” south to Santa Fe. Along this drive are some spectacular views and several interesting galleries.
While in Santa Fe we spent one day walking both sides of the street known as Canyon Road. This narrow little road is home to dozens of art galleries catering to just about any art taste you may have. Even if you’re not interested in purchasing art, it’s a great way to spend a day just browsing.
The highlight of our trip was traveling up to the Ski Santa Fe area northeast of the center of Santa Fe. This turned out to be one of the most beautiful drives I’ve ever encountered. With Fall just around the corner, the trees were just beginning to show off their vibrant yellows and oranges.
It was a great trip! The photos below were taken during the travels in both areas. Click on the first photo to start a slide show.
Great work! You don’t realize how beautiful the scenery was until you see one of Tom Mangelsdorf’s photos of it!!!!
