Yard Birds

I’m fortunate to live in a relatively undeveloped part of Scottsdale, Arizona where there is an abundance of wildlife. As noted in an earlier post, javelinas frequent my yard as do coyotes, snakes, and an occasional bobcat. However, the most abundant visitors are birds including hawks, quail, doves, cactus wrens, woodpeckers, road runners and many more. Here’s a selection of some birds that have taken up feeding on a thistle sock just outside my study window, and some others just for fun. Click on the first image to display larger versions.

My goal for next year is to capture some closeups of hummingbirds, so keep dropping by to check on my progress.
